Lakewood Village Independent Residence

1.    I volunteered at Lakewood Independent living facility here in Charleston.

2.    The volunteer experience has reflected on some of my FCS courses, such as FCS 4840, some elderly people have to face that they are unable to go back “home” again. 

3.    While at the independent living facility, I had asked Stacy St. John what a director must have to be a director.  I had asked her how many residents were living there at the time I was volunteering.  Stacy said that there were a total of 5 residents.

4.    The potential effect of the service activity such as interacting with the older population, which can be great for both the older person as well as the volunteer.

5.    I really enjoyed volunteering at Lakewood Independent living facility.  While I was there, the staff was super friendly.  The director made me feel right at home.  Stacy was willing to answer any questions that I had.  After my five hours were up, she had told me that if I wanted to come back that I was more than welcome to come back.
